Scientific Linux is a recompiled-from-source Linux distribution based on RHEL, the most widely-used commercial enterprise linux distribution available today. Co-developed by Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (FermiLab) and the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), Scientific Linux is currently being used by laboratories and universities around the world in their various collaborative efforts. However, a simple BIOS boot order modification on the host PC may be required. For added convenience, a business card sized Boot CD is included with every purchase. This Boot CD provides the user with the option of avoiding a BIOS modification. The Boot CD can also extend FlashPC usage to host PCs that do not allow BIOS modification or that do not offer USB or Card media as an option in the BIOS boot order.
